Stephen Albert, an American composer, was born February 6, 1941 and died December 27, 1992 in a tragic automobile accident. His music is described at Musical Sales Classical as “powerful, dramatic, colorful, and deeply emotive. Contemporary in sound, yet firmly rooted in traditional compositional techniques, Albert’s music sought to establish links with fundamental human emotions and musical archetypes.” (You can find out more at my website, StephenAlbertComposer.com)
I had the honor to debut Albert’s Flower of the Mountain on the West Coast in 1991 with a full orchestra conducted by Dr. Daniel Kingman.
I recently decided that I would like to perform the piece again, and looked up Albert with the thought of contacting him, only to find out that he died over twenty years ago. That discovery lead to more research and to this website.
I am now working on arranging an orchestra and a venue for my performance of Flower of the Mountain. I will let you know when the performance is scheduled.
